Guernsey Number Plates
Guernsey number plates consist of up to six digits.
Number plates may be either silver lettering on a black background, or black lettering on white or yellow backgrounds as they are on the mainland.
An oval containing the letters 'GBG', which is the island's international vehicle registration, is sometimes included on the left hand side of the number plate.
Registration numbers with lower numbers are of a higher sales value.
The Guernsey Fire and Rescue Services do not have number plates on their vehicles.
Guernsey hire cars must carry a black 'H' on a yellow background on a separate plate, much like a learner plate. The Guernsey road lay outs and rights of way are different to mainland Briton so this plate is to warn other drivers that ‘the car in front’ may not know the road system.
