Refining Your Number Plate Searches
Whilst searching Regfinder using either the Word Search box or the Categories you may see this message appear. This doesn't mean there are no possible number plates found, it means that you will need to widen your search to include a wider vehicle age range, broader word accuracy or a bigger budget.

Whether you are using the Word Search or the Categories in Regfinder, this Regfinder feature contains three very useful filters which you can use to interactively widen or narrow down your number plate search results.
By default it is set to the current registration year, medium word accuracy and no limit on the budget of how much you want to spend on your number plate. The great thing here is that you can adjust all of these settings interactively, so widening or narrowing your number plate results is a doddle! Give it a try, do a word search or choose a category word, then adjust the age, accuracy or budget, Regfinder automatically adjusts to fit your criteria.
Your Vehicle's Age
Use this section to limit the age of the number plates
in your search or your search results. Remember; 'You cannot make a vehicle appear newer than
it is' but you can keep a number plate on retainer (V750/1) until you
have a car new enough to put it on if your not in a hurry to use your
new number plate.
You can also look up possible number plates in the future, Regfinder does not know about the price or availability of any plates until DVLA provide the information so these number plates will always be marked as 'Not For Sale' until they are for sale.
Word Accuracy
It's not always possible to match a particular word to a number plate, that's just a limitation of how UK number plates work, not Regfinder. Regfinder's smart pattern matching scores each number plate on it's accuracy to each word. So you can adjust the accuracy of the search word using this filter, so finding words using these filters is overall easier but down to your judgement, it's up to you!
Nearest
will provide few or no resulting number plates, but any results you get will usually be be spot on number plate wise.Medium
will give you a fairly good selection of number plates in most cases, although this filter setting will allow simple visual similarities to the real characters in the word. It's up to you to decide whether the number plate results look good or not.Go Wild!
This option will probably provide some very incomprehensible number plates using all sorts of tenuous marks to form a word, but sometimes this filter can turn up a good personalised number plate, once again, all that is up to you!Your Budget
Regfinder will filter your resulting number plates to the amount of money you are willing to spend on a number plate using this option.
